The main website page of the ‘Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church’ South Australia states:

Hacksaw Ridge – outreach opportunity! It is rare to have a mainstream movie clearly identifying Seventh-day Adventist beliefs in such a positive light. “Hacksaw Ridge” is being released on 3 November in your local cinemas. We are offering you a 123page book entitled “The Hero of Hacksaw Ridge” by Doug Batchelor…to use when talking to people about this movie…”

Mandate Ministries has been exposing the false teachings and false prophecies of the SDA Church since 1978!

Hacksaw Ridge Poland

Hacksaw Ridge Poland

From the online Adventist Review, the SDA’s state: “…millions of people are going to watch “Hacksaw Ridge,” the powerful story of a war hero. A Christian war hero. A Seventh-day Adventist war hero. And more important, people will be talking about Desmond Doss’ faith, his beliefs, and the remarkable God who enabled Doss to carry himself with such grace, commitment, and bravery.” (Copied 28 Nov 16)

Please Note: In what I say about the movie, please note that I say nothing that would detract from the heroism and gallantry of the main character in the movie, US Army Corporal Desmond Doss. However, he was a Seventh-day Adventist non-combatant medic (he did not carry arms, but he served with a combat unit) who single-handedly rescued 75 soldiers during the Battle of Okinawa. As a result of his bravery, he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honour, the United States’ highest military honour – equivalent to Australia’s Victoria Cross.

Quotes from the Seventh-day Adventist Review website:

‘Hacksaw Ridge’ opens unprecedented Adventist witnessing opportunities in Central Europe’ (SDA) Church in Poland, Hungary spotlighted as movie draws interest. Posted November 25, 2016

Karolina and Monika, from Krakow, Poland, have spent a lot of time this last month at their local cinema. Recently baptized teenage twins, you will find them there, dressed in World-War II look-alike T-shirts similar to the uniform Desmond Doss would have worn. On the back is written, “Desmond Doss saved 75. Jesus saved all. I’m an Adventist like Desmond Doss – ask me more.” When they stand up at the end of a screening of Mel Gibson’s

WWII epic, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, they make an impression. They answer questions and share with movie-goers a specially prepared issue of the Polish “Signs of the Times,” or “Znaki Czasu.” “The movie was great, but above all, we admire Doss’s moral stance. …We are proud to be Adventists,” the twins admit. They are not alone. More than 100 Adventist youth in cities across Poland have spent the month of November volunteering at cinemas, on the street, at a book fair and at special screenings of the Desmond Doss documentary film, ‘The Conscientious Objector’ in their local churches. The result? People are already having Bible studies with pastors after watching Gibson’s film and at least 100 have attended an Adventist Church for the first time. (My Emphasis)

All this did not happen by accident. Marek Micyk, Youth director for the Adventist Church in Poland, joined with public relations consultant Michal Rakowski and a group of youth to formulate a plan that could maximize the witness of the church during the time of the cinema release. It wasn’t just the youth. The entire Polish Union Executive Committee bought into the vision. The publishing house printed 30,000 copies of a magazine that normally has a circulation of 3,000. They have all sold. The Hope Channel Poland studios gained permission to voice over and distribute Terry Benedict’s 2004 documentary “The Conscientious Objector”. Screenings were organized in five cities and 1,000 DVDs were sold.‘Szeregowiec Doss’, a book about the life of Doss prepared for the film release, was given as a gift to journalists during the Polish premiere. Another 3,200 copies have been sold since, including at the Krakow International Book Fair visited by 70,000 people. Znaki Czasu hosted a stand there for the first time in its history. Karolina and Monika were among the volunteers, wearing the same original American U.S. military uniforms that Doss would have worn. (End Quote)

One can see from reading the foregoing that the SDA church leaders, worldwide, have gone to great lengths and expense in preparing their people to have a strong ‘witness’ for their ‘false gospel’ when the film was released!

Three Polish SDA leaders are quoted in the article, as saying:

“It’s fantastic,” said pastor Marek Rakowski, (SDA) executive secretary ofthe Adventist Church in Poland. “A strange paradox is that in a country that is one of the most Catholic in Europe, [talking] about spirituality and other religions is generally ‘taboo.’ This film has broken the taboo and given the church a voice.” That “voice” has come at higher levels than expected both in Poland and in near-by Hungary. In both countries, the film distributor contacted the Adventist Church asking for help to check the accuracy of the translation.

Róbert Csizmadia, executive secretary of the Adventist Church in Hungary states that this was an answer to prayer as they had been looking for ways to be able to use the film as a witness. “There is so much war, enmity, terrorism and people genuinely thirst for peace and love,” he said. “We have something positive to offer.”

The same is true in Poland where Hacksaw Ridge is already in release: “In my entire life as a Seventh-day Adventist, I have never seen our church gain such good media coverage,” says Marek Rakowski, secretary of the Adventist Church in Poland.

USB Thumb Drives

USB Thumb Drives

SDA Church members have been well-trained and SDA resources have been produced to help draw the unsuspecting into a ‘false gospel’! The article confirms this: “Adventists also manned a booth during the press screening, handing out specially labelled USB memory sticks crammed with useful media materials about Doss and Adventists. That resulted in Siciński being invited to several other media outlets.” The usb’s were labelled and filled with ready-to-use press releases and information (like FAQ) about the Adventist Church. You may ask, “How successful has the campaign been for the Adventist?” The article provides the answer: “Working in public relations, Michal Rakowski is impressed: “If the Church had paid for an advertising campaign of this kind of extent, using the same media, we estimate it would cost 180,700 Euros! [U.S. $191,000 and AUD $254,000] That is a price that would be totally unaffordable for Adventists in Poland where there are just 5,820 members in a population of38.5 million.” Rakowski added,

The article continues: “For Micyk, an active presence on the Internet was a key factor to success. His team translated the Polish Doss Wikipedia page. It was viewed 33,000 times in November, the third highest Wikipedia result globally – just after English and French. They designed a Church-owned website, www.DesmondDoss.pl. It was viewed 35,000 times by 8,500 users. Micyk is most proud ofthe Desmond Doss PL Facebook fan-page where the most popular infographic was seen by 209,000 users, he said. Many Polish Adventist youth changed their Facebook cover pictures for film poster images and a sentence “I’m an Adventist like Desmond Doss.” !

Conclusion: One can see briefly, from the foregoing, that wherever SDA’s are worldwide, they are capitalising on the release of the movie to ‘attract’ people to their ‘religion’. However, the readers of this article dismiss the article as being written by a former disgruntled SDA, should that the writer has never been an SDA ‘church attender’!

Readers should make the effort to investigate the roots, or the beginnings and beliefs, of the SDA Church for themselves to understand why they should not get involved with or accept their teachings of a group that came out of the aberrant ‘Advent Movement’ from the mid-1840’s!

The SDA’s, like many others, have a history of false teachings; the most notable of the SDA’s being the failure to be ‘caught up to Heaven’ in 1843, 1844 and 1845! They were taught by their leaders they the three dates were direct from Heaven! All of which failed and are well-documented. Many of their teachings are not accepted by the learned Bible-believing Christian.

Mandate Ministries was established in 1978 by Fred and Barbara Grigg. They have an extensive and informative website with many articles designed specifically to expose the many cults and their false teachings; groupsthat function on the periphery of Christianity – pretending to be Christian, but are not! Iran Now Has One of Fastest Growing Christian Population As More Muslims Are Having Dreams and Visions of Jesus

by Precy Dumlao news@gospelherald.com Dec 08, 2015

Despite severe persecution and acts of terror from ISIS headlining the front pages, Christianity remains strong and is, in fact, a fast growing religion in Iran – one of the most hard line Islamic countries in the world today. In a report from CBN, wherein the interviewees – Iranians visiting Kurdistan – have requested anonymity for their protection, former Muslims are revealing that many are coming to Jesus through supernatural dreams and visions. The dreams are giving them hope amidst the desperation and hardship facing many in the Islamic Republic today.

“Dennis,” one such ex-Muslim who had converted to Christianity after having a dream about Jesus, admits that desperation in Iran is driving more people to run to Christ as the answer to their predicament. “Yes, many people are coming to Christ through a dream. You cannot imagine how Jesus is appearing to them…You know the experience that the Iranian people are passing through right now is very difficult. The only one who can change that situation is Christ Himself,” Dennis said.
Dennis’ dream was a dramatic message that moved him to look to Jesus as a source of truth.
“In the dream, I still remember some marks on His face and that He was wearing a crown, a King’s crown on His head. Very strong brightness came out of each part of His Body and many people were bowing down before Him…That dream became a turning point in my life.”

Another convert who shared her story was a woman named “Abby”. “Suddenly, one of the nights when I was in my bed, I just dreamed, and the Light was speaking as I’m speaking to you now,” Abby recalled. “It was speaking to me and calling my name verbally and saying ‘Come to me. I will save you and I will rescue you.'” “Abby” and her mother soon made a difficult decision – one that could cause them to be executed by the government or socially ostracized by their community. “This year, about seven months ago, we made our decision to follow Jesus with all our hearts,” she said.

This is not the first time that this puzzling supernatural phenomenon have occurred. Reports of Muslims – from hardline Islamic countries across the globe – having dreams of Jesus have been growing in strength in the last five years. God Reports is a privately maintained blog where a collection of first-hand experiences of ex-Muslims and their dreams about Jesus are meticulously detailed. Nabeel Qureshi’s post describes how he had specifically asked God to give him three different dreams as proof, and how these prayers were carefully answered.

The phenomenon has only motivated the converts to share their faith even more. As for Dennis, he would like the flames of Christianity to take a deeper hold over Iran. “Please pray and ask the others to pray for the people of Iran to experience the power of the Resurrection,” Dennis said.

Many Australian citizens are not aware that every time they buy food products from their supermarkets and local grocery stores, they could be paying an insidious illegal ‘religious tax’ to the religion of Islam! However, a large number of Australians (at the time of writing over 500+)  have made written submissions to the inquiry being conducted by an appointed Senate Committee that is tasked with investigating, “Third Party Certification on Food” in Australia”.

On 13 May 2015, the Federal Senate referred an inquiry into third party certification of food to the  Senate Economics References Committee for inquiry and report by 30 November 2015. Submissions close 31 July 2015. (Please contact the committee secretariat on (02) 6277 3269 if you have any questions about this inquiry?)  The writer agrees that there is a  need for clear
labelling on food products to enable folk who suffer from diabetes; gluten intolerance; nut allergies and the like, to purchase their food  wisely.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the major campaigner for an inquiry was due to the forcefulness of Senator Cory Bernadi seeking an inquiry into food labelling practices? His prime
motivation for doing so, is the Islamic “monetary tax” that food manufacturers are forced to pay for their products to have Muslim Halal Certification (which also allows them to sell their goods in Muslim dominated countries! They, of course, have to pass this tax impost on by increasing the price of their products! Labels sometimes haves small Halal logos that are very hard to discern, or hidden, which does not give the consumer a choice, either to pay, or not to pay, a Muslim tax!

Copy of the submission the writer made to the Senate Standing Committee follows:

No one likes to suffer persecution. Yet, the Bible makes it clear that those who commit themselves to Jesus will be persecuted. The Apostle Paul declared this truth very bluntly in one of his letters to Timothy: “Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Timothy 3:12). Jesus Himself also warned that His followers would be despised by the world: “You will be hated by all because of My name…” (Mark 13:13). In fulfillment of these prophecies, Christians have been persecuted throughout history. Even when the Catholic Church dominated Europe, true Bible-believing Christians were tortured by the apostate Church and were burned at the stake.

Today, Christians are being persecuted throughout the world as never before. They are being harassed, tortured and even slaughtered pell-mell by Muslims, Hindus, Communists and Humanists. It is currently estimated that more than 100,000 Christians are being martyred yearly for their faith. Christians in the United States have lived charmed lives for 350 years, from the establishment of the Jamestown colony in 1607 to the beginning of the decade of the 1960s. During those years, our nation’s Christian heritage was recognized and respected. But Christianity went on the defensive with the cultural revolution of the 1960s. And since Barack Obama’s election in 2008, true Bible-believing Christians have become a persecuted sub-culture within American society.

Hatred toward Christianity in America today is blatant, crude and loud. Just type the word, Christian, into an Internet search engine and see the nature of the critical articles that appear. They are horrific in nature. Christianity is vilified as “what is wrong with America,” and Christians are denounced as “intolerant bigots.” I was jolted by the anti-Christian vehemence that exists in our nation today when I started doing research on Franklin Graham for the featured article in this issue of our magazine. For every positive article I found about Franklin, there were a dozen that were hyper-critical, meanspirited and hate-filled. A classic example is an article that appeared in the Huffington Post that was titled, “Franklin Graham is Still the Worst Thing to Happen to God in a While.” Newsweek wrote him off as a “theological bully.”

The extreme hatred expressed toward Franklin, particularly among homosexuals, makes me fear for his life. He will certainly need heavy security next year when he launches his campaign to hold a prayer rally in every state of our nation. Increasingly, in our nation, it is going to be difficult to live a Christian life without experiencing some form of extreme persecution. Jobs will be lost. Businesses will be destroyed. In fact, the current anti-Christian wave of opinion is so strong, I would not be surprised to see “hate speech” criminalized so that those speaking out against sins like sexual perversion can be put in prison.

The good news in the midst of the paganization of our culture is that the resulting Christian persecution is a definite sign that we are living in the season of the Lord’s return. Satan knows Bible prophecy (Revelation 12:12), and he knows from the signs of the times that his time is short — and thus he is intensifying his attacks on Christians worldwide. As we face increasing persecution in the days ahead, let us keep in mind the words of Jesus recorded in Matthew 5:11-12 — “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great…”

Franklin Graham: A Modern Day Daniel In the Lion’s Den

In 1991 an outstanding academic biography of Billy Graham was published. It was titled, A Prophet With Honour. The author, Dr. William Martin, was at that time a professor at Rice University where he specialized in the sociology of religion. I knew Dr. Martin personally since we had been students together at Harvard University in the early 1960s. As soon as the book was published, I called him and asked, “Why in the world did you title the book, A Prophet With Honor? You know as well as I do that Billy Graham was anything but a prophet!” Dr. Martin laughed and responded, “Yes, Dave, I realize that, but in like manner, you know as well as I do that publishers demand absolute control over a book’s cover and its title.” He went on to explain that he had engaged in a wrestling match with the publisher over the title, but had lost.

A Difference in Styles and Callings

Billy Graham was a very gifted and effective evangelist, but he certainly was no prophet. He sought the favor of politicians, he feared offending anyone, and he had “an obsessive need for approval.” His son, Franklin, has summed it up this way: “Daddy hates to say no. I can say no.” In stark contrast, Franklin could care less about currying the favor of politicians, he refuses to tip-toe through the tulips with regard to controversial issues, and he seeks no one’s approval except the Lord’s. “I’ve never really been one to try to be politically correct,” Franklin has stated. “I just feel truth is truth, and sometimes I probably offend some people.”

Well, as we shall see, there is no “probably” about it. Franklin drives his critics crazy with his refusal to compromise on the issues, and as a result, he is the focus of unrelenting attacks. Take, for example the headline of a Huffington Post article dated March 6, 2015: “Franklin Graham is Still the Worst Thing to Happen to God in a While.” The author of the article proclaimed, “God has a tough time living down Franklin Graham’s narrow bigotry.”

Franklin is not a chip off the old block. His focus and style are radically different from his father’s. Franklin has commented about their differences several times in public. He has pointed out that he has received criticism from both Christian leaders and staff members that could be summed up with the words, “Your father would never have said that or taken that position in public.”

Franklin normally responds to such observations by pointing out that his father ministered in a Christian nation whereas he is ministering in the midst of a nation that is jettisoning its Christian heritage.

OK, so this is where we have managed to come as a Western nation: a devout Muslim, fuelled by Islamic ideology, commits a horrific act of terror on the streets of an Australian city, killing two innocent people, and our lamestream media manages to turn this into a case of a poor misunderstood Muslim being bullied by evil Australians!

We now have a new pitiful victim. The two dead innocent Aussies? No, the Muslim hostage taker of course! He and the entire Muslim community are the real victims here, and we are somehow the bad guys. Go figure. This is where we are now at. Our leaders and media elites are now completely certified dhimmis.

Jihad has come to our streets, but all the MSM wants to do is tell us that jihad has not come to our streets. It has taken an actual real-life event and completely spun it on its head. No, this was not an Islamic attack and it had nothing to do with Islam. That must be the case, because the media has had one Muslim leader after another telling us that this is the case. So it must be true.

We have Muslims killing infidels in the name of Allah, yet all the MSM can do is harp on and on about are all those evil Australian “racists” and “xenophobes” out there. Just whose side are they on anyway? And that of course is a rhetorical question.

While the 16 hour hostage drama unfolded, I wrote two articles on this tragic situation. Now that it is over, a number of good articles are appearing. Let me draw your attention to a few of them. Larry Pickering, among others, picked up on this foolishness that Man Monis was a lone wolf with no following:

“The cries of “lone wolf attack” echo through the media as a politically correct alternative to “Islamic terrorism”. But the warped Muslim mind of, Sheik Man Haron Monis, was there for all to see on his facebook page, with more than 14,000 “likes”… well it was there before some embarrassed person took it down.

Isn’t it strange that a lone wolf can have so many other wolves following him ready and willing to join in the kill? Not really, not if you really want to believe in lone wolves… you know, the ones that belong in the feeble minds of the far Left and the apologists for Islamic terrorism. The truth is that the lone wolf belongs in fairy tales like Three Little Pigs, just wait, the rest of the pack are right behind him.”

Others have pointed out this inconvenient truth about followers on Facebook:

Premier Mike Baird – 11,500

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore – 6,500

Man Haron Monis – 14,725 (before his profile was taken down yesterday….an outcast of the Muslim community) and the idiotic idea that Islam is the victim here, and we have to worry about poor Muslims being exposed to some campaign of hate by the ones being killed is nicely dealt with by Chris Kenny. He says in part:
“We need to come to grips with a blunt reality; Islamic extremist terrorism, whether it is carried out by highly organised groups or deranged loners, whether it is imported or homegrown, is a real and present danger. Our broader community and media need to deal with this reality in the matter of fact way that our security forces do.
“The few isolated cases of Islamophobic responses have normally been strongly dealt with and denounced by our citizens, not to mention our authorities. They are always regrettable and intolerable but are far from the norm — such behaviour is simply not Australia’s way — and any attempt to find equivalence between them and deadly acts of terrorism is insulting to the victims of terror.

“Yet, even while our fellow Australians were still cowering at the hands of an extremist gunman yesterday, social media was abuzz with a feel-good hashtag campaign to suggest Muslim Australians would be safe on our public transport.

Muslims are safe on our public transport each and every day. In the huddled crowds at Martin Place yesterday there were Muslim women with head scarfs, mingling in the crowd sharing their concerns along with their fellow non-Muslim Australians. That is our way. The idea that Australia needs to prove its plurality and tolerance is as wrongheaded as it is silly.

Andrew Bolt also has weighed into this:

“Must we always feign this surprise when a terrorist is found to be — gasp — Muslim? Surely we can finally drop this absurd game given that 21 of the 21 people jailed for terrorism offences here in the past couple of decades were Muslim, as are 19 of the 20 proscribed terrorist groups in Australia. Surely we’re entitled to conclude that something specific to Islam seems to license violence, given we have just as many Buddhists here as Muslims, yet not one Buddhist has killed here for his faith.”

Finally, Bernard Gaynor offers us a few home truths which we must come to terms with. He presents “five things the mainstream media is spinning wrong about the Islamic addition to Christmas festivities in Australia over the last 24 hours:

“We couldn’t see this coming. Apparently, we could never see this coming. This was an attack we thought we could never see in Sydney. That’s what the Premier of New South Wales, Mike Baird, said this morning. Hello! Mike! Is there anyone home? Australians aren’t goldfish. We can remember things for more than three seconds. Like, for instance, the fact that 800 police descended upon Sydney just a few weeks ago to prevent some peaceful follower of the religion of peace from peacefully severing some random Aussie’s head. In Martin Place. Right where the Lindt Café stands. Anyone who couldn’t see this coming has had their head in the sand and their backside pointed skywards, almost as if they have already embraced Islam.

“I’m guessing, however, that most people would not have expected the news that the deranged gunman was actually on bail. For a multitude of sexual offences and in relation to his wife’s murder (she was peacefully set on fire). Or that this bloke had a habit of sending abusive letters to the families of Australian soldiers who died in Afghanistan.

“Who needs to worry about the Islamic threat when our own legal system holds the safety of Australians in such contempt that it would let this guy run free? But I can think of no better advertisement for the actual truth of Islam than the fact that a murderous sexual deviant would stroll into the heart of Sydney for his last stand under the most famous words of Mohammed….

“Islamic leaders have condemned this violence. Apparently Australia’s Grand Mufti has condemned the Lindt Café siege. And with that, the media went running on their way to talk about how Muslims fear for their lives, living in such a racist country like Australia. But the truth is that Grand Mufti Ibrahim Abu Mohamed has a lot of hide to issue such a statement. This is the same man that sent a statement to the Federal Senate in October claiming that new anti-terror laws inhibited his religious freedom. You read that right. Nothing further needs to be said. The Grand Mufti’s statement says it all: it is an open admission that Islam promotes terrorism. The real question is this: why has the media barely reported this at all?
“The Islamic Community suffers from this. The last 24 hours are wreaking a terrible toll on the Islamic community, if you believe the media. Give me a break. This is the ultimate good cop/bad cop routine. Some dude walks into a café and kills two people. In return, the Islamic apologists are given huge air time. The Premier of New South Wales convenes video conferences with the bloke who claims new anti-terror laws impinge religious freedom and interfaith prayer services are held at mosques around the nation. Politicians are jumping over themselves to promote Islam. And it’s all because, under the Islamic flag, two Australians were gunned down. Like I said, give me a break.
“And, of course, the social media numpties have gone nuts. #illridewithyou has taken off. It is, of course, a completely empty gesture designed only to reinforce the arrogant feelings of moral superiority held by those who promote tolerance at the expense of our nation’s safety. And nothing shows the vacuous nature of the moral do-gooders than the fact that they don’t do any good at all. They just ‘Twitter’ good, like gods from on high. Apparently, that is even better than actually doing anything at all.  “If you support the idea of Islamic rule and Sharia law, the last 24 hours have shown that murdering two Australians is pretty much all it takes to get everyone who is anyone to show deference and submission. It’s not exactly a great deterrence. So expect more violence to come.
“I am so glad a few other sensible and sober voices are being heard on this. With the MSM having basically sold its soul to the devil – in this case, an Islamic devil – it is so refreshing to hear a few folks who have not yet lost their marbles and joined the zombie hordes.”

Culture Watch 16 Dec 2014: http://billmuehlenberg.com/2014/12/16/why-the-jihadists-are-winning/

Western authorities and the media establishment have hastened to assure us that Man Haron Monis was simply mentally ill, and that’s why he took hostages in the Lindt Chocolat Cafe and had some of them hold the black flag of jihad to the window. The Islamic State, however, has a different view.

“Sydney siege gunman Man Haron Monis glorified in Islamic State propaganda magazine Dabiq,” by Matthew Knott, Sydney Morning Herald, December 30, 2014: “Man Haron Monis has been hailed a hero by an Islamic State propaganda magazine for his actions during the siege in which two hostages were killed.

Sydney siege gunman Man Haron Monis features prominently in newly released Islamic State propaganda material which urges would-be terrorists to mimic his “daring raid” on the Lindt cafe in Martin Place. In the foreword to the sixth edition of Dabiq, Islamic State’s official English-language magazine, the terrorist group says Monis’ actions “brought terror to the entire nation” and erased his history of “shirk and transgression”.

Islamic State uses Dabiq as an important recruitment and propaganda tool.

“This month, an attack was carried out in Sydney by Man Haron Monis, a Muslim who resolved to join the mujāhidīn of the Islamic State in their war against the crusader coalition,” the magazine’s foreword says.

“He did not do so by undertaking the journey to the lands of the Khilāfah and fighting side-by-side with his brothers but rather, by acting alone and striking the kuffār [non-believers] where it would hurt them most – in their own lands and on the very streets that they presumptively walk in safety.

“It didn’t take much; he got hold of a gun and stormed a cafe taking everyone inside hostage. Yet in doing so, he prompted mass panic, brought terror to the entire nation, and triggered an evacuation of parts of Sydney’s central business district. The blessings in his efforts were apparent from the very outset.”

The foreword continues: “After a lengthy standoff, brother Man Haron Monis was killed. His daring raid ended with two kāfir hostages dead, and four others wounded, including a police officer. Thus, he added his name to the list of Muslims who answered the Khilāfah’s call to strike those waging war against the Islamic State wherever they may be, and thereby has his past history of shirk and transgression completely erased…”

The magazine features a full-page colour photograph of Monis and contains quotes attributed to him on his conversion from Shia to Sunni Islam. Past editions of Dabiq, which is named after a town in Syria, urged would-be jihadists to keep their plots small and their strategies simple, involving as few people as possible.

“At this point of the crusade against the Islamic State, it is very important that attacks take place in every country that has entered into the alliance against the I slamic State, especially the US, UK, France, Australia and Germany,” the fourth edition urged.

One hundred years ago today, a lethal jihad attack was staged against New Year’s Day picnickers in Broken Hill, Australia.  This attack and the recent Martin Place siege, events separated by almost exactly a century, show striking similarities. For Australians, the anxious question about the Martin Place attack, which has grabbed the attention of everyone, is whether this atrocity is but a harbinger of a further series of deadly attacks on Australian soil, or whether it will pass into memory as an exceptional one-off event, much as the 1915 New Year’s Day massacre in Broken Hill did.

Alma Cowie, killed in Broken Hill 1915, and Katrina Dawson, killed in Sydney 2014

Alma Cowie, killed in Broken Hill 1915, and Katrina Dawson, killed in Sydney 2014

On New Year’s Day, 1915, two Muslim men, Bashda Mahommed Gool and Mullah Abdullah, shot and killed four people and wounded several others before finally being killed by police. They had both come to Australia more than a decade previously.

Beginning in 1860, many Muslim cameleers came to Australia to help open up the arid outback. Today a famous train from Adelaide to Darwin is known as ‘The Ghan’ to commemorate the contribution of the ‘Afghans’ – as they were known (although they came from many different places across the Middle East and South Asia) – to the development of Australia.

The jihad attack was staged against a picnic train which was taking 1200 picnickers out on a New Year’s Day in open ore trucks.  Bashda Mahommed Gool and Mullah Abdullah first made enquiries at the station beforehand to make sure they would be in the right place at the right time to attack this particular train.  They then positioned themselves on the side of a hill around 30 meters from the tracks, and opened fire as the trucks passed.  Among the victims was Alma Cowie, aged 17, shot dead. By the end of the incident the jihadi cameleers had themselves been killed by police. The two were found to have left notes to explain that they were responding to a call to jihad issued by the Ottoman Caliphate (on 11 November 1914).

Mullah Abdullah said that his intention was to die for his faith in obedience to the Sultan’s order, and Mahommed Gool wrote “I must kill you and give my life for my faith, Allahu Akbar, apparently in reference to Sura 9:11:

Allah has purchased of their faithful lives and worldly goods, and in return has promised them the Garden. They will fight for His cause, kill and be killed.
The Ottoman fatwa declared that it was a religious duty “for all the Muslims in all countries, whether young or old, infantry or cavalry, to resort to jihad with all their properties and lives, as required by the Quranic verse of enfiru.” The verse of enfiru (Arabic ‘go forth’) is a reference to Sura 9:38:

You who believe! What is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the path of Allah, you cling heavily to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter. Unless you go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place…
The enfiru verse calls upon Muslims to ‘go forth’ for jihad, or else face a painful doom under the judgement of Allah; better to fight as a martyr and go to paradise than burn in hell for hanging back.”

A more detailed fatwa, ‘A Universal Proclamation to all the people of Islam’ was published by the ‘National Society of Defense of the Seat of the Caliphate’ (reproduced in Andrew Bostom’s Legacy of Jihad, p.216 ff).  This ‘Universal Proclamation’ declared that ‘every Muslim without exception must be considered as a soldier’ and the duty of jihad ‘is enjoined upon all the peoples of Islam who are spread abroad upon the face of the whole earth’:

They must know that the killing of infidels who rule over the Islamic lands has become a sacred duty, whether it be secretly or openly, as the great Koran declares in its words: “Take them and kill them whenever you come across them, and we have given you a
manifest  power over them by revelation.
[Sura 4:91].
This fatwa goes on to define three different forms of jihad, including ‘individual jihad’, in which an individual Muslim attacks an infidel in a solo act. It names contemporary examples of attacks on Westerners in colonial contexts which were familiar to Muslims at the time, including the killing of an English governor, Peter Galy,[1] as well as the assassination of an English chief of police in India.  The fatwa suggests the use of ‘cutting, killing instruments’.  It also cites as a precedent the assassination of certain Jews by Muhammad’s companions. The fatwa urges faithful Muslims to rise up, ‘go out … and kill one of those who belong to the Triple Entente (Russian, France and Great Britain) of the infidels’:

… let every individual of the Muslims in whatever place they may be, take upon him an oath to kill at least three or four of the ruling infidels, enemies of Allah, and enemies of the religion. He must take upon him this oath before Allah Most High, expecting his reward from Allah alone, and let the Muslim be confident, if there be to him no other good deed than this, nevertheless he will prosper in the day of judgment …
The two ‘Afghan’ jihadis of Broken Hill, according to their own testimony, acted in accordance with such instructions: they went out to kill infidels as an act of individual jihad.

Another mode of jihad recommended by the ‘Universal Proclamation’ is ‘jihad by bands’, which it claims to be particularly effective when Islam is weak.  The ‘Universal Proclamation’ states:

… the most profitable of them is that which makes use of secret formations, and it is hoped that the Islamic world of today will profit very greatly from secret bands, and therefore it is in the degree of duty to him who wishes to participate in the Jihad that he should take council with people of experience in the formation of secret bands and gain profitable information of this kind.

‘Jihad by bands’ is the mode of Al-Qa’ida.

The third recommended form of jihad is ‘jihad by campaigns’, which is warfare using armies directed by the Caliph.  This is the mode the self-declared caliphate known as the Islamic State is following today. The phenomenon of individuals launching a personal jihad against non-Muslim infidels is nothing new.  The precedents in the life of Muhammad are well-known and some of these were cited in the Ottoman ‘Universal Proclamation’.  As the Ottoman fatwa indicated, the phenomenon was already a thorn in the side of colonial authorities a century ago.

In the Dutch occupation of Aceh, the phenomenon of individual Muslims killing Dutch people was frequent enough to be given a name, Atjeh-moorden ‘Acehnese murders’.  The Dutch authorities conducted investigations into the mental state of perpetrators of such attacks.  This was not always easy: because the attacks were mounted with the intention of ‘killing and being killed’ to attain martrydom, only a minority of attackers survived in a fit state to be investigated.

The Dutch wrestled for decades to understand the phenomenon.  The psychiatrist R.A. Kern conducted a study of Atjeh-moorden and concluded that while Islamic theology accounted for the common pattern of the murders, this was not enough to determine which particular individuals might be triggered to mount such attacks: for that one needed to look to the personal circumstances of the individuals.

Nevertheless, repeated psychiatric studies of perpetrators showed that they were not mad.  David Kloos summarized their findings: “Over the years, a consensus had formed among the Dutch that the Ajteh-moorden were committed deliberately, in ‘cold blood’ and thus ‘rationally’.[2]  Going for individual jihad was not normally a symptom of mental instability.

There are striking parallels between the Broken Hill massacre a century ago, and the recent Martin Place siege.

  • In both cases the media puzzled over the motivation of the attackers.  The Barrier Miner wrote in 1915 “The question has been asked over and over again, and by many people since yesterday morning’s tragic occurrence, as to the motive of the men in attacking the picnic train with its load of women and children…”
  • The attackers in both cases had resided for many years in Australia and were well-known in their communities.
  • Both attacks were individual acts;  although the 1915 attack by two individuals working together, they were not part of a larger network of jihadis, but were merely combining their individual efforts.
  • In both cases the attackers subscribed to the dogmas of jihad in the path of Allah, and martyrdom in Holy War.
  • In both cases, attackers were mobilized in response to a global call to jihad: in 1915 issued by the Ottoman Caliphate; in 2014 issued by Islamic State.
  • Both global calls to jihad had specifically invited Muslims around the world to commit individual acts of jihad by killing infidels (see here on the Islamic State’s call to Muslims to run over infidels with their cars).
  • In both cases the perpetrators had been experiencing difficulties with the law: in the 1915 massacre, Mullah Abdullah had been convicted days before for slaughtering sheep on an unlicensed premises.  In the Martin Place siege, Hojat al-Islam Muhammad Hassan Manteqi (AKA ‘Sheikh’ Man Haron Monis) was facing criminal charges as an accessory to the murder of his ex-wife and had a history of convictions for serious offenses.

There were also similarities in the way the wider community and the media responded:

  • In both cases the media took pains to point out that the majority of people in the Muslim community abhorred the killings, and reported that no-one from the Muslim community wished to claim the bodies.
  • In both cases there were no reprisals against Muslims. However the Broken Hill German Club was burned down in 1915; the killings were considered to be linked to the World War I conflict as a whole, rather than as manifestations of individual jihadism.

Michael Wesley, professor of International Relations and director of the School of International, Political and Strategic Studies at the Australian National University confidently wrote in The Australian that ‘this is a new and more dangerous form of terrorism’, which he called ‘third-generation’ terrorism. According to Wesley, ‘first-generation’ terrorism only appeared in the world in the 1960’s, ‘second-generation’ terrorism in the 1990’s, and this, in its turn, ‘morphed’ into ‘third generation’ terrorism, which we are experiencing today.

Is individual jihad really a new phenomenon?  Nothing could be further from the truth.  It is, on the contrary, an old, old form of warfare, as old as the origins of Islam itself.  The Ottoman fatwa writers knew their Koran and were qualified to draw conclusions from it, which did not differ from the long-established mainstream of Islamic teachings about jihad.

To discuss such things the term terrorism is inadequate and even misleading.  It confuses experts like Professor Wesley, who attempt to lump the Martin Place siege into a conceptual grid which includes the IRA, in apparent ignorance of the well-documented history of jihadism.

Also misleading is the widely used term lone wolf, which implies social disengagement and dysfunction, including disconnection with the broader jihadi movement.  This very Western secular construct overlooks the considerable attention in Islamic jurisprudence to the idea of warfare as an ‘individual obligation’ (fardh al-’ayn), which is incumbent upon Muslims as individuals, even if they are not enlisted in a jihad army.

The West puzzles and puzzles over jihad.   The Martin Place hostage taker ‘Sheikh’ Monis certainly seems to have been a very unpleasant individual, and many have been tempted to write him off as ‘crazy’. However what fascinates and terrifies most is the utter ordinariness of so many jihadis.   Here in Australia article after article has been published in the media pointing out how normal the young men are who have joined Islamic State.  We have read how they enjoy social media, made YouTube videos, do well at school, are liked by their friends, go partying, have girlfriends, support local football teams etc.  And all this is related to us as if it was the most amazing news.

Given the terrifying ordinariness of the jihadis, it is tempting to apply pejorative labels to them, to write them off as deranged misfits. This is an attempt to marginalize the problem. Australia’s foreign minister, Julie Bishop called it ‘idiotic’ to refer to those who die in jihad as ‘martyrs’.

However such attempts to push the jihad phenomenon to the edges of our rational world are doomed to fail. Instead the same question keeps arising, like a persistent itch, that the Barrier Miner put on January 2, 1915: ‘The question has been asked over and over again, and by many people since yesterday morning’s tragic occurrence, as to the motive of the men in attacking the picnic train with its load of women and children…’

This question will simply not go away.  In reality, the will to ‘go forth’ for jihad is not a manifestation of craziness – many of its actors are entirely sane.  It is not a manifestation of stupidity – many of its actors are quite intelligent.  It is not a manifestation of social dysfunction or poverty – many of its actors come from stable and wealthy homes.  It is not a manifestation of weirdness – many of its actors are quite ordinary.  Nor is it a manifestation of ‘morphing’ trends in international relations – jihadism is as old as the hills.

Jihadi terror is a manifestation of Islamic theology.  Despite the fact that so many Muslims reject jihadism, and millions of Muslims can be counted among its victims, this remains as true today as ever it has been. Yet this is something the West remains disturbingly ill-prepared to accept, engage with, or address appropriately.  We stubbornly continue to seek worldview solace in misplaced explanations.

Australians are right to be deeply concerned about the Martin Place incident.  History will show that this was not a one-off blip in the peaceful lives of Australians.  It will certainly not take another hundred years before more Australians die at the hands of Australian jihadis on Australian soil.  Such future tragedies may eventually compel us to revise and reject our inadequate worldviews.  Until then it seems we must continue to wear our self-imposed blindfolds, all the while trying to defend ourselves against an enemy we cannot see and stubbornly refuse to understand.

[1] This is almost certainly a reference to the assassination of Boutros Ghaly five years previously, in 1910.  Ghaly was a Coptic Christian and prime minister of Egypt at a time when the country was a de facto English protectorate, although formally under the Ottomans Sultanate.  When the fatwa refers to him as an “English Governor”, this is a slander which summarizes the Islamic charge against him.  The assassin was Ibrahim Nassif al-Wardani, a graduate in pharmacology from a privileged Muslim background, who been educated in Lausanne, Paris and London. This was the first of a series of assassinations in Egypt which continued up until the start of WW I. See Reid, Donald M. (1982). “Political Assassination in Egypt, 1910-1954”. Syrian refugees displaced by civil war

Syrian refugees displaced by civil war

The federal government is preparing for another “surge” in refugees and this time they won’t be coming illegally from Central America. The U.S. State Department announced this week that the first major contingent of Syrian refugees, 9,000 of them, have been hand-selected by the United Nations for resettlement into communities across the United States. The announcement came Tuesday on the State Department’s website.

WND reported in September that Syrians would make up the next big wave of Muslim refugees coming to the U.S., as resettlement agencies were lobbying for the U.S. to accept at least 75,000 Syrian refugees over the next five years. Until now, the U.S. had accepted only 300 of the more than 3.2 million refugees created by the Syrian civil war in which ISIS, El Nusra and other Sunni Muslim jihadist rebels are locked in a protracted battle with the Shiite regime of Bashar al-Assad. But the U.S. government has been the most active of all nations in accepting Islamic refugees from other war-torn countries, such as Iraq, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Now, the Syrians will be added to the mix. They are cleared for refugee status by the U.N. high commissioner on refugees (UNHCR), who assigns them to various countries. Once granted refugee status by the U.N. they are screened by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for any ties to terrorist organizations. The State Department announcement makes it clear that the 9,000 refugees represent just the beginning of an extended program to accept more Syrians. “The United States accepts the majority of all UNHCR referrals from around the world. Last year, we reached our goal of resettling nearly 70,000 refugees from nearly 70 countries. And we plan to lead in resettling Syrians as well,” the statement reads. “We are reviewing some 9,000 recent UNHCR referrals from Syria. We are receiving roughly a thousand new ones each month, and we expect admissions from Syria to surge in 2015 and beyond.”

The United States, with its commitment to accepting 70,000 displaced people a year, absorbs more refugees than all other countries combined. This number is understated, however, as once refugees get to the United States they are placed on a fast track to citizenship and are able to get their extended families to join them in the states under the government’s Refuge Family Reunification program. The State Department works to place refugees in 180 cities across 49 states.

Despite the large numbers, the U.S. has come under criticism from aid groups for its pace in taking in refugees from the Syrian war, which is by far the largest refugee crisis of recent years, reported Ann Corcoran of Refugee Resettlement Watch. U.S. officials say the resettlement program has moved slowly because the United Nations refugee agency, which they look to for referrals, didn’t begin making recommendations until late last year. And the United States takes 18 to 24 months on average to carefully vet each applicant to make sure he or she poses no security risk. Muslim countries in the Middle East have so far not stepped up to permanently take in their Islamic brothers and sisters although the temporary refugee camps to which the Syrians have fled are in Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon.

Syrian refugee camps like this one have popped up in Jordan and Lebanon.

Syrian refugee camps like this one have popped up in Jordan and Lebanon.

The State Department announcement was careful to explain that the U.S. will take in only those Syrians who are “persecuted by their government.” Christians in Syria are being killed by ISIS and other Muslim rebels, not by “their government,” but the Sunni Muslims are being killed by the Shiite-led government. It also would not take 18 to 24 months to “vet” Christian refugees for security purposes. “There is no doubt the majority of Syrians to be admitted to the U.S. will be Muslims because it would be unlikely there would be a ‘security risk’ with the Christians,” according to Corcoran. She said screening has become more rigorous since 2009, when authorities were alarmed to discover that two members of al-Qaeda had entered the country posing as Iraqi refugees. That concern has been sharpened by worries that fighters from the Islamic State militant group may try to enter the United States.

The United States has accepted nearly 2 million refugees from Muslim countries since 1992, WND previously reported. The authority for the resettlement program is the Refugee Act of 1980, signed into law by President Jimmy Carter. On Tuesday, Anne C. Richard, assistant secretary of state for population, refugees and migration, said at a U.N. meeting in Geneva that the Obama administration was going to step up its efforts because the refugee outflow had swelled “to a mass exodus.” At the Geneva meeting, 28 countries agreed to take in 66,000 refugees. But that was far short of the 300,000 Syrians that officials at the U.N. refugee agency believe need to be permanently resettled.

Corcoran alerted readers of her blog who live in cities already stocked with large numbers of refugees that they should contact their members of Congress if they have concerns about getting new shipments of displaced persons. The added burden that refugees put on social services has prompted several mayors in Massachusetts and New Hampshire to request that the federal government shut off the refugee spigot, as reported recently by WND. The mayor of Athens, Georgia, Nancy Denson, has requested that her city not be added to the list of cities accepting refugees until a full accounting of the costs can be tabulated. Richard, in her announcement, said resettlement agencies and “charities” are already mobilizing to help the soon arrival of new Syrian refugees. “Like most other refugees resettled in the United States, they will get help from the International Organization for Migration with medical exams and transportation to the United States. Once they arrive, networks of resettlement agencies, charities, churches, civic organizations and local volunteers will welcome them. These groups work in 180 communities across the country and make sure refugees have homes, furniture, clothes, English classes, job training, health care and help enrolling their children in school. They are now preparing key contacts in American communities to welcome Syrians.” What Richard fails to mention is that most of the resettlement work done by the above network of agencies is taxpayer funded through various grants distributed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Refugee Resettlement Program.

The nine contractors that lobbied for more Syrian refugees are:

• Church World Service (CWS)

• Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC)

• Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM)

• Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS)

• International Rescue Committee (IRC)

• U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI)

• Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS)

• U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB)

• World Relief Corp. (WR)

The cost of resettling 70,000 refugees comes to just over $1 billion per year to the U.S. government, according to a State Department report for fiscal 2015. This includes running the program and issuing federal grants to the nine resettlement agencies. The $1 billion figure does not include the cost of the unaccompanied alien children program, supplying food stamps, subsidized housing, interpreters, Medicaid, WIC, temporary assistance to needy families (TANF) and educating the children, much of which falls to states and localities. Corcoran estimates that, taken in total, the cost of the U.S. refugee resettlement program could run as high as $10 billion per year. “Those numbers are just not obtainable,” she said.
That also does not include the potential cost of security risks. WND reported in September that 22 Somali-Americans brought in through the refugee program have been documented by the FBI to have left the country to fight for Al-Shabab, a terrorist organization in Somalia, while several others have gone to fight for the Islamic State, also called ISIS, in Syria. Dozens of others have been prosecuted for sending money or other material support to terrorist organizations.
Several of the resettlement agencies, such as the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, have posted statements on their websites welcoming President Obama’s recent executive action granting amnesty to up to 5 million illegal aliens. The religious “charities” conduct their refugee resettlement work with government grants accounting for 90 to 98 percent of their budgets, as previously reported by WND.

Dear Men and Women of Australia,

There are two photographs on this page, and they almost look like father and daughter. One is of a young woman, the other is of an elderly man. The photograph of the woman was taken in the Great Depression of 1934. Her name was Florence Owens Thompson, a 32 year old mother of seven children who was sitting homeless in a tent. The photograph was published in the newspapers of America and it enraged the nation, because people could not believe that Americans could be treated in such a way. It forced President Roosevelt to act, to step up and become a leader for his times: he launched soup kitchens, work gangs, programs for the homeless, dams and roads and railways were built – and he gave his people hope.

John Steinbeck later wrote a book called The Grapes of Wrath which became an American literary Icon. It was about a drought that made the farmers penniless – and how the banks had forced them off their land so they could sell it on o the big corporations. What happened to the farmers of Oklahoma carved a deep and shameful scar across the American identity that was felt throughout the Twentieth Century.

The second photograph on this page is of Charlie Phillott, 87, an elderly farmer from Carisbrooke Station at Winton. He has owned his station since 1960, nurtured it and loved it. He is a grand old gentleman, one of the much loved fathers of his community.

Not so long ago, the ANZ bank came and threw him off his station because the drought had devalued his land and they told him he was considered an unviable risk. Yet he has never once missed a single mortgage payment.

Today, Charlie Phillott, Grand Old Man of the West, is living like a hunted down refugee in Winton, shocked and humiliated and penniless. And most of all, Charlie Phillott is ashamed, because as a member of the Great Generation – those fine and decent and ethical men and women who built this country – he believes that what happened to him was somehow his own fault. And the ANZ Bank certainly made sure they made him feel like that.

Last Friday my wife Heather and I flew up with Alan Jones to attend the Farmers Last Stand drought and debt meeting. And after what I saw being done to our own people, I have never been more ashamed to be Australian in my life.

What is happening out there is little more than corporate terrorism: our own Australian people are being bullied, threatened and abused by both banks and mining companies until they are forced off their own land.

So we must ask: is this simply to move the people off their land and free up it up for mining by foreign mining companies or make suddenly newly empty farms available for purchase by Chinese buyers? As outrageous as it might seem, all the evidence flooding in seems to suggest that this is exactly what is going on.

What is the role of Government in all of this? Why have both the State and Federal Government stood back and allowed such a dreadful travesty to happen to our own people? Where was Campbell Newman on this issue? Where was Prime Minister Abbott? The answer is nowhere to be seen.

For the last few months, The Prime Minister has warned against the threats of terrorism to our nation. We have been alerted to ISIS and its clear and present danger to the Australian people.

Abbott has despatched Australian military forces into the Middle East in an effort to destroy this threat to our own safety and security. This mobilization of our military forces has come at a massive expense to the average Australian taxpayer which the Prime Minister estimates to be around half a billion dollars each year.

We are told that terrorism is dangerous not only because of the threat to human life but also because it displaces populations and creates the tragedy and massive human cost of refugees.

Yet not one single newspaper or politician in this land has exposed the fact that the worst form of terrorism that is happening right now is going on inside the very heartland of our own nation as banks and foreign mining companies are deliberately forcing our own Australian farmers off the land.

What we saw in the main hall of the Winton Shire Council on Friday simply defied all description: a room filled with hundreds of broken and battered refuges from our own country. And all over the inland of both Queensland and NSW, there is nothing but social and financial carnage on a scale never before witnessed in this nation.

It was 41 degrees when we touched down at the Winton airport, and when you fly in low over this landscape it is simply Apocalyptic: there has not been a drop of rain in Winton for two years and there is not a sheep, a cow, a kangaroo, an emu or a bird in sight. Even the trees in the very belly of the creeks are dying.

There is little doubt that this is a natural disaster of incredible magnitude – and yet nobody – neither state nor the federal government – is willing to declare it as such.

The suicide rate has now reached such epic proportions right across the inland: not just the farmer who takes the walk “ up the paddock” and does away with himself but also their children and their wives. Once again, it has barely been covered by the media, a dreadful masquerade that has assisted by the reticence and shame of honourable farming families caught in these tragic situations.

My wife is one of the toughest women I know. Her family went into North West of Queensland as pioneers one hundred years ago: this is her blood country and these are her people . Yet when she stood up to speak to this crowd on Friday she broke down: she told me later that when she looked into the eyes of her own people, what she saw was enough to break her heart

And yet not one of us knew it was this bad, this much of a national tragedy. The truth is that these days, the Australian media basically doesn’t give a damn. They have been muzzled and shut down by governments and foreign mining companies to the extent that they are no longer willing to write the real story. So the responsibility is now left to people like us, to social media – and you, the Australian people.

And so the banks have been free to play their games and completely terrorise these people at their leisure. The drought has devalued the land and the banks have seen their opportunity to strike. It was exactly the excuse that they needed to clean up and make a fortune, because once the rains come – as they always do – this land will be worth four to ten times the price.

In fact, when farmers have asked for the payout figures, the banks have been either deeply reluctant or not capable of providing the mortgage trail because they have on-sold the mortgage – just like sub-prime agriculture.

This problem isn’t simply happening in Winton, but rather right across the entire inland across Queensland and NSW. The banks have been bringing in the police to evict Australian famers and their families from their farms, many of them multigenerational. One farmer matter of factly told us it took “oh, about 7 police” to evict him from his first farm and “maybe about twelve” to evict him from his second farm which had been in his family for many generations. You think they are kidding you. Then you see the expression in their eyes.

And there was something far worse in the room on Friday: the fear of speaking out against the banks: when we asked people to tell us who had done this to them, they would immediately start to shake and cry and look away: They have been silenced to protect the good corporate image of their tormentors called the banks. What in God’s name have the bastard banks been allowed to do to our people?

This is a travesty against the rights and the human dignity of every Australian

So it’s only fair that we start to name a few of major banks involved: The ANZ is a major culprit (and they made $7 billion profit last year). Then there is Rabo, which is now owned by Westpac (who paid CEO Gail Kelly a yearly salary of some $12 million) According to all reports, the NAB is right in there at the trough as well – and all the rest of them are equally guilty. For any that we have missed, rest assured they will be publicly exposed as well

But here’s the thing: when these people are forced off their farms, they have nowhere to go. There are no refugee services waiting, such is the case for those who attempt to enter the sovereign borders of this nation. The farmers simply drive to the nearest town – that’s if the banks haven’t stripped their cars off them as well – and they try and find somewhere to sleep. Some are sleeping on the backs of trucks in swags. There is basically no home or accommodation made available to take them. They camp out, shocked and broken and penniless – and they are living on weet bix and noodles. If there is someone that can lend a family enough money to buy food, they will: otherwise they are left completely alone.

And consider this: not one of them has asked for help. Not one. They just do the best they can, ashamed and broken and brainwashed by the banks to believe that everything that has happened is completely their own fault

There is not one single word of this from a politicians lips, with the exception of the incredibly courageous father and son team of Bob and Robbie Katter, who organised the Farmers Last Stand meeting. The Katter family have been in the North since the 1890’s, and nobody who sat in that hall last Friday could question their love and commitment to their own people.

There is barely a mention of any of this as well in the newspapers, with the exception of as brief splash of publicity that followed our visit.

The Minister for Agriculture Barnaby Joyce attended the meeting in a bitter blue-funk kind of mood that saw him mostly hunched over and staring at the floor. He had given $100 million of financial assistance in a lousy deal where the Government will borrow at 2.75% and loan it back at 3.21%.

The last thing these people need is another loan: they need a Redevelopment Bank to refinance their own loans: issuing a loan to pay off a loan is nothing more than financial suicide.

The reality is that Joyce cannot get support from what he calls “the shits in Cabinet” to create a desperately needed Redevelopment Bank so that these farmers can get cheap loans to tide them through to the end of the drought.

Our sources suggest that those “<*****> in Cabinet” include Malcolm Turnbull – Minister for Communications and the uber-cool trendy city-centric Liberal in the black leather jacket:, Andrew Robb – Minster for Trade and Investment and the man behind the free trade deal, the man who suddenly acquired three trendy Sydney restaurants almost overnight, the man who seems to suddenly desperate to sell off our farms to China – and one Greg Hunt, Environment Minister and the man who is instantly approving almost every single mining project that is put in front of him.

At the conclusion of the meeting, we stood and met some of the people in the crowd. My wife talked to women who would hug her for dear life, and when they walked away people would suddenly murmur “oh, she was forced off last week” or “they are being forced off tomorrow” . Not one of them mentioned it to us. They had too much pride.

The Australian people need to be both informed and desperately outraged about what is being done to our own people. This is about every right that was once held dear to us: human rights, property rights, civil rights. And most all, our right to freedom of speech. All of that has been taken away from these people – and the rest of us need to understand that we are probably next.

In the last four weeks the Newman Government has removed all farmers rights to protest to a mine and given mining companies the rights to take all the water they want from the Great Artesian Basin – and at no cost to them at all.

And all of this has happened under the watch of both Premier Newman and Prime Minister Abbott.

Until Friday, we used to think of Winton as the home of Waltzing Matilda: it was written at a local station and first performed in the North Gregory Hotel. I think it was Don McLean who wrote, “something touched me deep inside…the day the music died”… in his song American Pie, and for us, last Friday was the day music died.

We will never be able to sing Waltzing Matilda again until we see some justice for these people, and all the farmers of the inland.

This is no longer the Australia we once knew: no longer our country, no longer our people, no longer the decent caring leaders we once remembered.

Right now, the banks, the mining mates, the corrupt politicians and all the ‘mongrels in suits’ have won – and the Australian people don’t have a clue what has been done to them.

Like the American Depression and the iconic photograph of Florence Owens Thompson, there is a terrible, gaping wound that has been carved across the heartland of this nation.

We need to fully grasp that, and to understand that our people – dignified, decent and honourable old men like Charlie Phillott – have been deliberately terrorized, brutalised – and sold out.

So if we are ever going to do something, then we’d better realise that its two minutes to midnight – so we’d better move fast.

MIDDLE EAST UPDATE – December 19th 2014

Interesting news received yesterday and this morning – you probably won’t hear about it in our media? Yesterday, Gaza started firing rockets into Israel again, in what Hamas calls a ‘Low Key Campaign’? One rocket landed in the Eshkol District and several others in the Beersheba region – no one was hurt. It’s been reported that Hamas recently rejected a Saudi offer to fully pay for Gaza’s rebuilding next year for free – which included it rebuilding the damages housing, the infrastructure and to equip and build up its Gaza’s military again.

Hamas lost Egyptian support when the recent Military Coup took place there and ousted the controlling Muslim Brotherhood! This was where Hamas’s major support was coming from. Seems that Hamas has now thrown its lot in with Iran and Syria. It’s also reported that a Hamas delegation of its leaders are going to Tehran this coming week to ratify the deal.

This is very interesting because Obama is said to have supported the Muslim Brotherhood, but is now pursuing Syria’s President Assad to become an ally in their joint confrontation with Islamic State (IS). Reports say that IS is having problems meeting the basic needs of the people who live in the areas they now control. There are food shortages and it unable to maintain and supply basic utilities like electricity, water and sewerage disposal!

IS has also lost what was its major income resources, the ability to sell oil. Seems that the US and its Allies have bombed their wells, pipelines and refineries! It’s also interesting to note that the Islamic Yarmouk Army Brigades which Obama’s US troops have been training in Jordan for the last two years have just defected to Islamic State! It’s said they have positioned themselves along the Golan Israeli and Syrian Border Area – all the way from Qunaltra in the north of Syria, south to Daraa in Syria along the Jordanian Border!

It’s Official: Mormon Founder Had Up to 40 Wives

The New York Times
NOV 10, 2014

Mormon leaders have acknowledged for the first time that the church’s founder and prophet, Joseph Smith, portrayed in church materials as a loyal partner to his loving spouse Emma, took as many as 40 wives, some already married and one only 14 years old.
The church’s disclosures, in a series of essays online, are part of an effort to be transparent about its history at a time when church members are increasingly encountering disturbing claims about the faith on the Internet. Many Mormons, especially those with polygamous ancestors, say they were well aware that Smith’s successor, Brigham Young, practiced polygamy when he led the flock in Salt Lake City. But they did not know the full truth about Smith.

“Joseph Smith was presented to me as a practically perfect prophet, and this is true for a lot of people,” said Emily Jensen, a blogger and editor in Farmington, Utah, who often writes about Mormon issues.

She said the reaction of some Mormons to the church’s disclosures resembled the five stages of grief in which the first stage is denial, and the second is anger. Members are saying on blogs and social media, “This is not the church I grew up with, this is not the Joseph Smith I love,” Ms. Jensen said.
Smith probably did not have sexual relations with all of his wives, because some were “sealed” to him only for the next life, according to the essays posted by the church. But for his first wife, Emma, polygamy was “an excruciating ordeal.”

The four treatises on polygamy reflect a new resolve by a church long accused of secrecy to respond with openness to the kind of thorny historical and theological issues that are causing some to become disillusioned or even to abandon the faith.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as the Mormon Church is formally known, has quietly posted 12 essays on its website over the last year on contentious topics such as the ban on blacks in the priesthood, which was lifted in 1978, and accounts of how Smith translated the Book of Mormon, the church’s sacred scripture.

Elder Steven E. Snow, the church historian and a member of its senior leadership, said in an interview, “There is so much out there on the Internet that we felt we owed our members a safe place where they could go to get reliable, faith-promoting information that was true about some of these more difficult aspects of our history.

“We need to be truthful, and we need to understand our history,” Elder Snow said. “I believe our history is full of stories of faith and devotion and sacrifice, but these people weren’t perfect.”

The essay on “plural marriage” in the early days of the Mormon movement in Ohio and Illinois says polygamy was commanded by God, revealed to Smith and accepted by him and his followers only very reluctantly. Abraham and other Old Testament patriarchs had multiple wives, and Smith preached that his church was the “restoration” of the early, true Christian church.

Most of Smith’s wives were between the ages of 20 and 40, the essay says, but he married Helen Mar Kimball, a daughter of two close friends, “several months before her 15th birthday.” A footnote says that according to “careful estimates,” Smith had 30 to 40 wives.

The biggest bombshell for some in the essays is that Smith married women who were already married, some to men who were Smith’s friends and followers. The essays held nothing back, said Richard L. Bushman, emeritus professor of history at Columbia University and author of the book “Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling.”

Dr. Bushman said of church leaders: “Somewhere along the line they decided they were just going to tell the whole story, not to be defensive, not to try to hide anything. And there’s no single fact that’s more unsettling than Joseph Smith’s marriage to other men’s wives.

“It’s a recognition of maturity,” said Dr. Bushman, who is a Mormon. “There are lots of church leaders who say: ‘We can take anything, just let us know how it really happened. We’re a church that is secure.’ ”

The younger generation of Mormons will benefit from this step, said Samantha Shelley, co-founder of the website MillennialMormons.com in Provo, Utah. She said she knew of Smith’s polygamous past, but “it’s so easy for people these days to stumble upon something on the Internet, and it rocks their world and they don’t know where to turn.”

In 1890, under pressure by the American government, the church issued a manifesto formally ending polygamy. The church’s essay on this phase admits that some members and even leaders did not abandon the practice for years. But the church did renounce polygamy, and Mormons who refused to do the same eventually broke away and formed splinter churches, some that still exist. Warren Jeffs, the leader of one such group, was convicted in Texas in 2011 of child sexual assault.

There remains one way in which polygamy is still a part of Mormon belief: The church teaches that a man who was “sealed” in marriage to his wife in a temple ritual, then loses his wife to death or divorce, can be sealed to a second wife and would be married to both wives in the afterlife. However, women who have been divorced or widowed cannot be sealed to more than one man.

Kristine Haglund, the editor of Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, said that while she found the church’s new transparency “really hopeful,” she and other women she had talked with were disturbed that the essays do not address the painful teaching about polygamy in eternity.

“These are real issues for Mormon women,” Ms. Haglund said. “And because the church has never said definitively that polygamy won’t be practiced in heaven, even very devout and quite conservative women are really troubled by it.”

The church historian, Elder Snow, said that the process of writing the essays began in May 2012. Each one was drafted by a scholar, often outside the church history department, then edited by church historians and leaders, and vetted by the church’s top authorities. They may issue one more essay, on women and the priesthood, an issue that has grown increasingly controversial as some Mormon women have mobilized to challenge the male-only priesthood.

The church has not publicly announced the posting of the essays, and many Mormons said in interviews that they were not even aware of them. They are not visible on the church’s home page; finding them requires a search or a link. Elder Snow said he anticipated that the contents would eventually be “woven into future curriculum” for adults and youths.

The church recently released an informational video about the distinctive Mormon underwear called “temple garments” — and it received far more attention among Mormons and in the news media than the essays on polygamy.

Sarah Barringer Gordon, a professor of constitutional law and history at the University of Pennsylvania, and a non-Mormon who has studied the Mormon Church, said it had dealt with transparency about its past before this, addressing Mormon leaders’ complicity in an attack on a wagon train crossing southern Utah in 1857, known as the Mountain Meadows massacre. But she said this recent emphasis on transparency by the church was both unprecedented and smart.

“What you want to do is get out ahead of the problem, and not have someone say, ‘Look at this damaging thing I found that you were trying to keep secret,’ ” she said.

Islam is a cultural, religious and political system. Only the political system is of interest to kafirs (non-Muslims) since it determines how we are defined and treated. The Islamic political system is contained in the Koran, the Hadith (the traditions of Mohammed) and his biography, the Sira.

The Five Principles: Islam’s Trilogy of three sacred texts is the Koran and two books about the life of Mohammed. When the Trilogy is sorted, categorised, arranged, rewritten and analysed, it becomes apparent that five principles are the foundation of Islam. All of Islam is based upon the Trilogy—Koran, Sira (Mohammed’s biography) and Hadith (his Traditions). Most of the Islamic doctrine is political, not religious. Islam is a political ideology. Islam divides the world into Muslims and unbelievers, kafirs. Political Islam always has two different ways to treat kafirs—dualistic ethics. Kafirs can be abused in the worst ways or they can be treated like a good neighbor. Kafirs must submit to Islam in all politics and public life. Every aspect of kafir civilisation must submit to political Islam. These Five Principles can be put in five words—Trilogy, politics, kafirs, dualism and submission. These five words bring clarity and ease of learning about political Islam. Up until now Islam has been hard to understand because it seemed complex and contradictory and did not make sense. But, once you see how the Five Principles work, everything falls into place. Complexity becomes simplicity. Chaos becomes order.

Trilogy: The Trilogy contains three books—The Koran is what Mohammed said that the angel Gabriel said that Allah said. But the Koran does not contain enough guidance for one to be a Muslim. The Koran repeatedly says that all of the world should imitate Mohammed in every way. Mohammed’s words and deeds are called the Sunna. The Sunna is found in two different texts—the Sira and Hadith.
The first source of the Sunna is the Sira which is Mohammed’s biography. The most authoritative version is by Ibn Ishaq. The other source of the Sunna is the Hadith, the Traditions of Mohammed. There are several versions of Hadith, but the most commonly used is by Bukhari. So the Trilogy is the Koran, Sira and Hadith.
  2. Political Islam: Political Islam is the doctrine that relates to the unbeliever, the kafir. Islam’s relationship to the kafir cannot be religious since a Muslim is strictly forbidden to have any religious interaction with them The religion of Islam is what is required for a Muslim to avoid Hell and enter Paradise. The Trilogy not only advocates a religious superiority over the kafir—the kafirs go to Hell whereas Muslims go to Paradise—but also its doctrine demands that Muslims dominate the kafir in all politics and culture. This domination is political, not religious. As mentioned earlier, the Koran has 61% of its text devoted to the kafir. The Sira (Mohammed’s biography) has about 75% of its text devoted to the kafir and jihad. Islam’s success comes primarily from its politics. In thirteen years as a spiritual leader, Mohammed converted 150 people to his religion. When he became a political leader and warrior, Islam exploded in growth, and Mohammed became king of Arabia in ten years.Islam has a complete doctrine of how to treat the kafir that is found in the Trilogy.
  3. Kafirs: Non-believers are so important that they have several names. Christians and Jews are called People of the Book or infidels. Other religious names for non-Muslims are atheist, polytheist, and pagan. But the Koran uses one word that includes all of the religious names. That name is kafir, an Arabic word. kafir is usually translated as unbeliever, but that translation is wrong. Unbeliever is a neutral word. The Koran is very clear about the kafir. Indeed, the Koran defines the kafir by how it speaks of them. kafirs are the lowest and worst form of life. kafirs can be robbed, murdered, tortured, enslaved, crucified and more. Later in this chapter, more of the Koran’s doctrine of the kafir is given in some detail. But the key point is that a kafir is not only a non-Muslim, but also a person who falls under a different moral code from the Muslim. The Koran is devoted to the division between those who believe Mohammed, Muslims, and those who do not, kafirs. This grand division of the Koran means that there are two points of view of the Koran—the view of the Muslim and the view of the kafir.
  4. Dualism: The third principle is duality, and is unique to Islam. As an example, here is a verse from the Koran: 109:2 I do not worship what you worship, and you do not worship what I worship. I will never worship what you worship, and you will never worship what I worship. You to your religion, me to my religion. This sounds very tolerant, but this verse was written later: 9:5 When the sacred months are passed, kill the kafirs wherever you find them. Take them as captives, besiege them, and lie in wait for them with every kind of ambush. If they submit to Islam, observe prayer, and pay the poor tax, then let them go their way. Allah is gracious and merciful. Now we have absolute intolerance. This contradiction is normal for the Koran and is even addressed in the Koran. The solution to contradiction is called abrogation where the later verse is better than the earlier verse. The logic here is very important. Since Allah is perfect and the Koran is the exact words of Allah, then both contradictory verses are true, but the later verse is better or stronger. This leads to dualistic logic where two contradictory facts can both be true.
  5. Submission: Islam means submission and Muslim means one who has submitted. It is clearly stated in the Trilogy that all kafirs and their civilizations must be annihilated. Mohammed’s success depended on violence to persuade kafirs that he was the prophet of Allah. Submission is political, as well as religious. Islam demands that kafirs submit in every aspect of public life. Every part of kafir culture is an offense to Allah. From: https://www.politicalislam.com/pages/mission/

Working in northern Iraq’s Kurdish region day and night to help meet the needs of people displaced by the threats and violence of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Mosul and other areas, members of an Iraqi ministry team recently came into contact with a colonel from the Kurdish forces battling ISIS.
The colonel was serving as a division commander of the Peshmerga, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s armed forces, which have helped to slow the incursion of ISIS in its brutal push to establish a caliphate imposing a strict version of Sunni Islam. With the aid of U.S. airstrikes, the Peshmerga have also slowly retaken some territory. They are helping to secure the Kurdish capital of Erbil, where the ministry team assisted by Christian Aid Mission is supplying displaced people with food, clothing, beds and medicine.
The colonel had a few questions for the team members: What was the reason for offering all this aid? What was the motivation, what was the source of it?
“We spoke with him explicitly, explaining everything to him, saying that Christ taught us to love and express our love to the people in a practical way,” said the team director, who inChristian Aid Photo No 2formed the officer that all relief items had been donated or purchased locally. The Peshmerga colonel, whose name is withheld for security reasons, was quick to respond.
“You see the Arabs around you in the Gulf states, which claim to be religious Muslims, have not sent us anything but terrorists,” he told the ministry team members. “But you who follow Christ send love and peace and goodness to people every day.” The conversation continued at length, the ministry team director said. “After we had a long talk with him about Christ, he bowed and prayed, asking Christ into his life,” the director said. “And he said, ‘Today I am the happiest person – I’ve had the privilege of making this decision,’ and he received a copy of the Bible.”
The colonel’s experience was just one of many taking place in Iraq. In cities of refuge like Erbil for people displaced from their homes in other parts of Iraq, people are turning to Christ at a stunning pace. Tent churches are springing up in the makeshift camps. Under normal circumstances, mission strategies focus on how to proclaim Christ effectively, but the challenge now is keeping pace with the number who would receive Him, the director said.
“The greatest challenge in the ministry right now is not whether these people will accept Christ or not,” he said. “In all our travel to deliver the aid and preach God’s Word, we did not find anyone opposed to or rejecting our message. The challenge is how and when we will reach all those people with the message of salvation in the squares, sidewalks, roads, inside the tents and out, and everywhere…”

Islam has no central or definitive body or figure authorised to define what exactly it is. Opinions about its essence and scope vary widely according to the political or philosophic background of its own interpreters. The current effort to establish an Islamic State, with a designated Caliph, again to take up the mission assigned to Islam, brings to our attention the question: “What is Islam?”

The issue of “terror” is a further aspect of this same understanding. Many outside Islam seek to separate “terror” and “Islam” as if they were, in their usage, independent or even opposed ideas. This latter view is almost impossible seriously to maintain in the light of Islamic history and the text of the Qur’an itself. John Kerry, however, insists that what we see is “terrorism” with nothing to do with Islam. The Obama administration seems to have a rule never to identify the Islam with “terrorism”, no matter what the evidence or what representatives of the Islamic State themselves say. The vice-president speaks of “Hell” in connection with actions of the Islamic State. Diane Feinstein speaks of “evil” behind the current slaughters in Iraq and Syria. The pope mentions “stopping aggression”. The English hate-laws prevent frank and honest discussion of what actually goes on in Islamic countries or communities in the West. Not even Winston Churchill’s critical view of Islam is permitted to be read in public.

Ecumenism and liberalism both, in their differing ways, because of their commitment to tolerance and free speech, make it difficult to deal with what is happening in Islamic states. Islam is not friendly to relativism or to subtle distinctions. Is terror intrinsic to Islam? What I want to propose here is an opinion. An opinion is a position that sees the plausibility but not certainty of a given proposition. But I think this opinion is well-grounded and makes more sense both of historic and of present Islam than most of the other views that are prevalent. I do not conceive this reflection as definitive. Nor do I document it in any formal sense, though it can be. It is a view that, paradoxically, has, I think, more respect for Islam than most of its current critics or advocates. This comment is an apologia, as it were, for the Islamic State at least in the sense that it accepts its sincerity and religious purpose.

It understands how, in its own terms, the philosophic background that enhances its view does, in its own terms, justify its actions, including the violent ones. The Islamic State and the broader jihadist movements throughout the world that agree with it are, I think, correct in their basic understanding of Islam. Plenty of evidence is found, both in the long history of early Muslim military expansion and in its theoretical interpretation of the Qur’an itself, to conclude that the Islamic State and its sympathizers have it basically right. The purpose of Islam, with the often violent means it can and does use to accomplish it, is to extend its rule, in the name of Allah, to all the world. The world cannot be at “peace” until it is all Muslim.

The “terror” we see does not primarily arise from modern totalitarian theories, nationalism, or from anywhere else but what is considered, on objective evidence, to be a faithful reading of a mission assigned by Allah to the Islamic world, which has been itself largely procrastinating about fulfilling its assigned mission. To look elsewhere for an explanation is simply not to see what the Islamic State and its friends are telling us about why they act as they do. The tendency among pragmatic Western thinkers, locked into their own narrow views, is to exclude any such motivation as an excuse of raw power. This view shows the intellectual shortcomings of Western leaders and the narrowness of much Western thought. Jihadism, as it were, is a religious movement before it is anything else. Allah does grant violence a significant place. It is over the truth of this position, or better the inability to disprove it, that the real controversy lies. A recent essay in the American Thinker calculated that over the years of its expansion, from its, beginning in the 7th and 8th centuries, some 250 million people have been killed in wars and persecutions caused by Islam. Nothing else in the history of the world, including the totalitarianisms of the last century, has been so lethal. If Islam is a religion of peace, what sort of peace does it bring? Other understandings of Islam’s record, though not its mission, within Islam may be also plausible, but no more so than this jihadist interpretation. It may be possible for some to read Islam as a religion of “peace”. But its “peace”, in its own terms, means the peace of Allah within its boundaries. With the rest of the outside world, it is at war in order to accomplish a religious purpose, namely, to have all submitted to Allah in the passive way that the Qur’an specifies.

Islam can at times be defeated or stopped, as at Tours or Vienna, but it will always rise again as it is now bent on so doing. To picture the jihadists and leaders of the Islamic State as mere “terrorists” or thugs is to use Western political terms to blind ourselves to the religious dynamism of this movement. No wonder our leaders cannot or will not understand it. This purpose, when successful, is a terrible thing. But we are not seeing a group of gangsters, as many are wont to maintain. The roots of Islam are theological, rather bad theology, but still coherent within its own orbit and presuppositions. Briefly put, Islam, in its founding, is intended to be, literally, the world religion. Nothing else has any standing in comparison. It is to bring the whole world to worship Allah according to the canons of the Qur’an. It is a belief, based on a supposed revelation to Mohammed, of which there is little evidence. Sufficient justification to expand this religion, once founded, to all the world by use of arms is found in the Qur’an and in its interpreters to explain the violent means used, often successfully, to establish, pacify, and rule tribes, states, territories, and empires.

In Muslim doctrine, everyone born into the world is a Muslim. No one has any right or reason not to be. Hence, everyone who is not a Muslim is to be converted or eliminated. This is also true of the literary, monumental, and other signs of civilizations or states that are not Muslim. They are destroyed as not authorized by the Qur’an. It is the religious responsibility of Islam to carry out its assigned mission of subduing the world to Allah.

When we try to explain this religion in economic, political, psychological, or other terms, we simply fail to see what is going on. From the outside, it is almost impossible to see how this system coheres within itself. But, granted its premises and the philosophy of voluntarism used to explain and defend it, it becomes much clearer that we are in fact dealing with a religion that claims to be true in insisting that it is carrying out the will of Allah, not its own. If we are going to deal with it, we have to do so on those terms, on the validity of such a claim. The trouble with this approach, of course, is that truth, logos, is not recognized in a voluntarist setting. If Allah transcends the distinction of good and evil, if he can will today its opposite tomorrow, as the omnipotence of Allah is understood to mean in Islam, then there can be no real discussion that is not simply a temporary pragmatic stand-off, a balance of interest and power. Whenever incidents of violence are witnessed in the Islamic world, or in other parts of the world caused by Islamic agents, we hear complaints that almost no Muslim voices rise to condemn this violence. When the original 9/11 happened, there was not condemnation coming from within Islam, but widespread celebration. Islam was seen as winning. But all Muslim scholars know that they cannot, on the basis of the Qur’an, condemn the use of violence to expand their religion. There is simply too much evidence that this usage is permitted. To deny it would be to undermine the integrity of the Qur’an.

Obviously, the enemies of the Islamic State and its jihadist allies are not only the “Crusaders” or the West. Some of Islam’s bloodiest wars were its invasion of Hindu India, where the tension remains marked. There are also Muslim efforts into China. The Philippines has a major problem as does Russia. But Islam wars with itself. The Sunni/Shiite struggles are legendary. It is important to note that one of the first things on the Islamic State’s agenda, if it is successful in surviving, is to unite all of Islam in its creedal unity.

The unfinished business from Tours and Vienna: All existing Islamic states are some sort of compromise between the true Islamic mission and forces, usually military forces that limit this world-wide unification. Almost all standing Muslim governments recognize the danger to themselves of a successful Caliphate. They all have some form of jihadist presence within their boundaries that seek to control it in the name of their very survival. There are or were Christian and other minorities within these states that are, to a greater or lesser extent, tolerated. But they are all, as non-Muslims, treated as second-class citizens. The Islamic movement renews that purist side of Islam that insists in eradicating or expelling non-Muslim presences in Muslim lands. The Archbishop of Mosul (Iraq), on seeing his people exiled and killed, forced to choose between conversion and death, empathized that his buildings were destroyed, the archives and all record of the long Christian presence in that area destroyed. He warned that this form of treatment is what the nations of the West could expect sooner or later.

There are now significant Muslim enclaves in every part of America and Europe to be of great concern as centres of future uprisings within each city. There are now thousands of mosques in Europe and America, financed largely by oil money, that are parts of a closed enclave that excludes local law and enforces Muslim law. Yet, we can ask: is this Islamic State anything more than a pipe-dream? No Islamic state has any serious possibility of defeating modern armies. But, ironically, they no longer think that modern armies will be necessary. They are convinced that widespread use of terrorism and other means of civil disorder can be successful. No one really has the will or the means to control the destructive forces that the Islamic State already in place. The Islamic State strategists think it is quite possible to take another step in the expansion of Islam, to take up again the assault on Europe left off at Tours and Vienna.

Muslim armies have always been known for cruelty and craftiness. Men often shrank in fear before its threat, as they are intended to do. A Muslim theoretician once remarked that their aim was to make the streets of Western cities look like those battlefields we see in the cities of the Middle East. Again with the suicide bomber and believers in their use, for which they are said to be “martyrs”, this may be possible. Finally, the case of the Islamic State and of the jihadists is not just a threat arising out of Islam’s mission to conquer the world for Allah. It is also a moral case, that the life of the West is atheist and decadent. It does not deserve its prosperity and position. The mission of mankind is the submission to Allah in all things. Once this submission is in place, the sphere of war will be over. No more beheading or car-bombings will be necessary or tolerated. No dissent within Islam will be possible or permitted. All will be at peace under the law of Islam.

This is the religious purpose of the Islamic State. It is folly to think of it in any other terms. But with great opposition both from the West and from within Islamic states to this vision, is there any possibility of its success? Pat Buchanan thought that a group of Seals one of these days would eliminate the new Caliph. Existing Muslin government officials know that their days are numbered if the Islamic State succeeds. But, at the same time, this vision does seem to be the real impetus of the Islamic peoples. It is easy to write this movement off as fanatical and ruthless, which it is. To the outside world, it sounds horrific, but I suspect not to those who believe its truth and see the current revival of Islam with relief. The second or third class ranking of Islam in the modern world is over. But to the degree that we misjudge what is motivating the renewal of Islam, we will never understand why it exists as it does.

It’s Jihad, Stupid

Mideast Israel PalestiniansStatements made by U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, after ISIS released videos showing their beheading of photojournalist James Foley, revealed that both seem to suffer not only from severe shortsightedness, but also from an acute case of willful blindness. Similar afflictions beset the U.S. political and military leadership and the media. The rest of Western world seems to suffer from the same problems.

All act surprised by the rapid advance of the ISIS, as well as its brutality. While the President described the beheading as “an act of violence that shocks the conscience,” Hagel announced: “Oh, this is beyond anything that we’ve seen.” Really?

A cursory google search reveals similarly horrid images of jihadists beheading, stoning, stabbing, burning, lynching and other unimaginable forms of taking human lives by celebrating members of al Qaeda, al Shabab, ISIS, Hamas, and Hezbollah. ISIS’s release of the video of James Foley’s brutal murder was followed two days later with Hamas videos of summary executions in Gaza. Indeed, the credit for exploiting the Western media to publicize their jihadi savagery belongs to the PLO (see below). The common denominator of these and like-minded Islamist Sunni and Shia groups is jihad. Their brutality matches that of the Nazis.

Yet, no American, European or other Western leader dared to identify the jihadist problem by its name.

Mr. Obama declared, “There has to be a clear rejection of these kind of nihilistic ideologies.” But the ISIS’s and other jihadists’ ideology is not “nihilistic.” Their ideology directs them to die while killing as many infidels as they can. The more they kill, the merrier will be their reward in heaven, they believe.

Commenting on the ISIS barbarous killing of Foley, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich, said, “America got a glimpse of exactly who they are…this is a group you need to deal with.” Why wasn’t “this group” dealt with already? Has our leadership waited until the ISIS had the opportunity to commit a heinous crime against an (American) individual that would outrage Americans, so our government would feel justified to take appropriate measures against the ISIS? If that’s what they wanted, they got it. Americans now understand that ISIS, which according to our government sources, is not in the U.S. yet, could be a problem. But how can this clueless Administration assure the public there are no ISIS supporters and sympathizers here? How successful would law enforcement agents on the look-out for ISIS operatives? ISIS and other jihadis have learned to operate under the radar, until a decision is made to strike.

Our Defense Secretary announced that the “ISIL is…beyond just a terrorist group. They marry ideology, a sophistication of strategic and tactical military prowess.”

But this is not unique to ISIS. Iran-trained Hezbollah and Hamas, for example, share the same main agenda with ISIS–to force sharia on the world.. Thus far the Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestinian branch, Iranian-trained and supplied Hamas, has failed to carry out its plan to destroy the Jewish State of Israel and kill all the Jews only because Israel readied itself. In the meantime, Hamas, like ISIS, does its best to kill its own Muslims.

As if Mr. Hagel’s surprise at ISIS capabilities were not enough, he seemed to admit that the U.S. is unprepared to defend against groups such as ISIS. “We must prepare for everything… and “get ready,” he said. The ISIS and the other jihadi groups must have been thrilled to hear this.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey, had this to add: “ISIS will only truly be defeated when it’s rejected by the 20 million disenfranchised Sunni that happen to reside between Damascus and Baghdad.” What about the other hundreds of millions of Sunnis who share ISIS jihadi ideology? And the thousands of foreign fighters who flock to Sunni training camps in Turkey, courtesy of the country’s newly re-elected president, Muslim Brother Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

On August 20, 2014, Walid Shobat posted a video “showing the ISIS training centers in Turkey” for all supporters of al-Qaida to the Middle East. Watch the video and hear the speaker calling to “Destroy and blow up our enemies, victory is near … young men, enroll, land and win .. young men its our religion attack with your weapons and win .. spread throughout the earth and raze the strongholds of the unbelievers.” Shobat.com reported that “as far back as March,” there were ISIS “training centers in Orfa, Ghazi Antab and Antakia (Antioch), [which were] set up by the Turkish government for more terrorists to be sent to Syria.”

Judging by the U.S. leadership’s surprise, one has to reach the conclusion that the U.S. Administration was either not privy to similar information, or that it decided to ignore it.

Incredibly, Obama said the conflict was not a “religious” one, but rather one of a shared “common security and a common set of values.”

“The ISIL speaks for no religion,” Obama said. “Their victims are overwhelmingly Muslim, and no faith teaches people to massacre innocents. No just god would stand for what they did yesterday and what they do every single day. ISIL has no ideology of any value to human beings…people like this ultimately fail. They fail because the future is won by those who build and not destroy.”

However, considering the pace at which ISIS is advancing, the growing numbers of fighters who are joining the group, the sophisticated (mostly American) weapons they have captured, their growing treasury, and the U.S. lack of will or ability to respond decisively–or even willingness to identify the jihadi ideology behind the ISIS as THE problem – the future will belong to those willing to identify jihad and its practitioners and fight it and them.

Muslim scholars calls for ‘global uprising’ against Israel

World Bulletin/News Desk

A prestigious group of Muslim scholars on Sunday called for staging what it called a “global uprising” in support of the Gaza Strip, which has been reeling under a wide-scale Israeli offensive for three weeks now.

“A global uprising by free people, especially Arabs and Muslims, is a duty,” the International Union of Muslim Scholars said.

“The free world should quickly act to end the Zionist aggression on Gaza and uphold the rights of the Palestinian people,” it added in a statement.

It called for ending a blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2006, opening the borders of the strip and ending what it called the “Zionist” occupation of Palestinian territories.

Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip – which has been reeling under a crippling Israeli blockade since 2006 – from air, ground and sea since July 7, leaving 1031 dead and 6233 injured and destroying hundreds of homes.

Israel claims that the military offensive aims at undermining the ability of Gaza’s resistance movements to launch rocket attacks

The Israeli offensive – codenamed “Protective Edge” – is the self-proclaimed Jewish state’s third major offensive against the densely populated Gaza Strip – home to 1.8 million Palestinians – within the last six years.

The International Union of Muslim Scholars said in its statement that Arab and Islamic states have to take steps at the international level to put pressure on Israel to halt its assault on Gaza.

10 minutes about living on the Gaza border

Interesting insight from a young lady that lives on the Gaza border

As Israel is under attack from Hamas in the Gaza strip and BDS — Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions — right here in America, Bill Whittle makes the historical and moral case for Israel, and shows just who, indeed, are the tyrants and aggressors in the Middle East. Even before the recent Israeli ground and air operations in Gaza, the BDS movement – that would stand for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions – was gaining traction… not just in France, or Germany, or Oman: right here in America.

“BDS is being sold – as everything evil and stupid is being sold these days – as a moral good. The argument goes like this: Israel, a nation formed in response to the cold, concrete reality of extermination, has let its economic and military power go to its head. They, now, are the oppressors; they now are Goliath in a main battle tank facing a brave Palestinian David with a rock in his hand; they now are the racists. They now – Israel – are the Nazis.

Are they?

Here is Israel at the time of its formation by the United Nations in 1948. Actually, you can’t see it on this map because it’s so small – smaller than the state of New Jersey.

On that same year, the Arab nations surrounding the new country attacked what was then mostly small farming communities and tried to drive the Jews into the sea.

But The Israelis won.

The Arabs tried it again in 1967. The Jews beat them again. Then, in 1973, the Arabs tried again, launching a sneak attack on the holiest Jewish holiday – and the Jews won again.

Israel’s territorial gains did not come from Israel attacking the Arabs. They came from Israel being attacked by the Arabs.

And Israel has always tried to give the land back in exchange for peace, as it did when it voluntarily returned the Sinai Peninsula – which is bigger than Israel itself – back to the Egyptians who had tried to attack them from the Sinai, and likewise, they gave the Gaza Strip back to the Palestinians who had attacked them – from the Gaza strip.

Since then, thousands – thousands! — of rockets and mortars have been fired into Israel from schoolyards and orphanages and hospitals in — Gaza.
How many rockets and mortars would you allow to fall on your house by neighbours that have been swearing to kill you for 65 years? How many times will someone keep hitting you before you hit back?

The Palestinians daily call for the Jews to be driven into the sea. The Jews have one of the most sophisticated militaries in the world. They could drive the Palestinians into the sea any time they wanted to. They don’t.

The instant that Hamas or Hezbollah get their hands on a nuclear weapon, they will do with it what they do every day with their rocks and mortars and missiles. They will use it. On Israel. The Israelis have an estimated 500 nuclear weapons and could destroy the Arabs any time they chose. They don’t.

Those are not Nazis. Those are moral, civilized people.

Israel is an island of civilization in a sea of barbarity, and that is why it is being targeted. Uncomfortable with those words, “civilization” and “barbarity?” Well, in Israel women can do whatever they please – including leading the state of Israel. In the surrounding Arab nations women are treated as chattel. They’re just property: useful for creating sons and carrying things.

In Israel, homosexuals are tolerated and celebrated as individuals – why, just as if they were real people! In the surrounding Muslim nations they are hung from construction cranes in public squares. In Israel, scientists at the University of Haifa are studying In-homogeneous tachyon dynamics. The latest scientific invention in the Arab world is a buzzer that goes off when a Muslim falls asleep against his prayer rug.

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions was used, in the main successfully, against racist South Africa. Racist South Africa used brutal force to suppress people along racial lines.

Israel, on the other hand, is the only nation in the entire Middle East where Arabs have a free and fair vote. Israel allows Israelis of any ethnicity to be elected to the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament – including Arabs. So: If you’re in favour of equal rights for women, legal protections for homosexuals, advances in science, the arts and medicine, and political access and personal rights guaranteed by law — you definitely should support Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions – for every nation in the region EXCEPT Israel.

Finally, I’ll just say this – because this is really what drives this whole thing. It is absolutely true that criticizing the actions of the State of Israel is not in itself anti- Semitism. Israel is as subject to criticism and condemnation as any other nation on earth.

But you cannot understand Israel’s actions without understanding the pervasive, unrelenting, hate that surrounds that outpost of civilization. From Hezbollah rockets made in Iran, to BDS sanctions made in Berkeley and Santa Monica, the attacks on this country and its people cannot be understood without getting to the bedrock essence of the nasty, petty, small and mean-spirited emotion that drives anti- Semitism.

And that emotion is Envy.

Genesis, Chapter 26, verses 12 through 16:

And Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The LORD blessed him, and the man became rich, and gained more and more until he became very wealthy. He had possessions of flocks and herds and many servants, so that the

Philistines envied him. (Now the Philistines had stopped and filled with earth all the wells that his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father.) And Aby melech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”

That was thousands of years before there was a religion called Islam. And when the Israelis, as a gesture of peace and goodwill, turned over the Gaza Strip in 2005 the first thing these modern-day philistines did was smash the windows of the greenhouses that had been handed to them by other people’s labor. Once again, they filled wells in the desert with sand.

Prior to the establishment of the state of Israel, by far the safest home the Jews have ever known was here in America. No doubt there was anti-Semitism here, but with a few exceptions it was golf-course anti-Semitism: disgraceful, but a long, long way from the pogroms and the death camps. Why was America such a safe home for the Jews? Well, because up until very recently — 2008 let’s say – envy was not admired here in America. “Coveting” wasn’t sold here as a virtue, either.

So, to the American Jews who voted in huge numbers for the man who was personal friends of Palestinian terrorist – Rhashid Khalidi – to babysit his children – to the American Jews that watched and supported Occupy Wall Street as it smashed crystal windows and denounced Jewish bankers; to the American Jews who continue to vote for an ever more powerful state when no one in the world has more to fear from powerful states like the National Socialist German Workers Party or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; to those American Jews who watched through the 1930’s and 40s and ask, “how could they have let that happen?” I would simply say, “How can you let this happen? Why do so many of you vote for this to happen – pay for it to happen?”

Tea Party Conservatives, like me – genuine friends of Israel and the Jewish people – look at you and think “It’s obvious you’ve lost your minds. Have you lost your souls as well?”

(It’s about ‘the Land and the Nation’. Ed)

Recent AP photos depict Presbyterians with what can only be called rapture on their faces. Not because of The Rapture, but because their church voted to divest from Israel (in their view, moral high ground). They’re a little confused, but nothing that an actual acquaintance with Scripture couldn’t fix. Really, just the Old Testament.

No surprise, the Presbyterian panties were in a wad because of the West Bank, specifically the supposed ‘apartheid’ that it represents and the oppression of the Palestinian people that, in their view, is an ongoing policy by the Israeli nation.

We’ll just ignore (like 99% of the world’s media) the oppression and human rights violations that all of Israel’s neighbours are guilty of, an ongoing basis. Because ultimately, who’s worse than who is not really the point. The point is who the land really belongs to. And who He gave it to who and for how long. Which is pretty much what the Old Testament deals with.

Here’s the back story: God gave the land to Israel as part of the covenant He made with Abraham, recorded in Genesis 15:

“the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates- (the land of ) the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.” (Genesis 15:18-21 NKJV)

Notice that God was not apologetic about giving Israel the land that had formerly been possessed by other peoples. (I’m just sayin’.) God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways not our ways. He has a plan to redeem all mankind (those who are willing to trust Him), and He made the land. I guess He can give

it to whoever He wants. In fact, He gave Abraham much more land than Israel currently possesses now. The land promised in the covenant ran all the way from the Nile to the Euphrates.

Funny. If you read through the historical books in the Old Testament, you’ll find that the areas that are a major thorn in the side to Israel now (Gaza, Jebron, the Golan Heights, etc) are the very areas that Joshua left unconquered.

But I digress. God gave Israel the land in His covenant with Abraham, and Abraham and his sons moved to Canaan. But we all know they didn’t really own it right away. They all ended up in Egypt, and it was centuries before they were finally delivered by the power of God through the hand of Moses. They wandered through the desert for forty years. Finally, however, God entered into another covenant with the descendants of Abraham. One that they had to personally participate in, at Mt. Sinai, when God gave them the Torah:

And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” So Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the Lord commanded him. 8 Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” (Exodus 19: 3-8)

The people, as one, promised to serve and obey God.

But I think we all know that didn’t last long. Israel worshiped the gods that their neighbours worshipped, and generally

ignored God’s repeated pleas with His chosen people to return to fellowship with Him.

One passage that always struck me as especially poignant:

“Yet hear now, O Jacob My servant, and Israel whom I have chosen. Thus says the Lord who made you and formed you from the womb… ‘Fear not, O Jacob My servant; and you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring; (Isaiah 44:1-3)

Remember these, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me! I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, and like a cloud, your sins. (Isaiah 44:21-22)

God pleaded with Abraham’s descendants to; “return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

But they didn’t. So God removed His protection. First, Israel was conquered by Assyria, then Judah by Babylon.

No response.
Then Persia, then Greece. No response.

Then Rome, and God sent the promised Redeemer. His Son. But Israel didn’t even recognize their Messiah, even though He rode into Jerusalem (on that first Palm Sunday) on the very date prophesied by Daniel and exactly as they had been promised (lowly, riding on a donkey). Jesus makes sure we don’t miss this because He looks out at Jerusalem and promises that the city will be destroyed after His death because they “did not know the time of their visitation” (Luke 19:44).

In fact, the city was destroyed about forty years later, driving the Jews that God had begged to return to Him into very corner of the world. Daniel records that sequence of events in Daniel 9, saying that when Messiah comes he shall then be, “cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.” (Daniel 9:26)

That’s exactly what happened in 70 AD. And the verse goes on to say that “desolations are determined’ until the end. The word desolations in that verse is actually a word that means to be stunned, appalled, stupefied, deserted. Daniel is attempting to describe events horrible beyond human ability to predict or understand.

A prophecy which was fulfilled in astonishing detail in Israel’s exile from the land, in Spanish plazas where God’s chosen people were burned at the stake, in the Pogroms of Eastern Europe, and in the concentration camps and crematoriums of the Third Reich. Wiped off the map for nearly 2000 years and its people nearly obliterated from the face of the earth, Israel, the nation God chose for His own possession was seemingly down for the count. But here’s the thing. God allowed Israel to be conquered and the book of Hosea tells us that God removed his protection for a reason. Jesus, after his rejection by Israel (prophetically recorded) says:

“I will return again to My place till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.” (Hosea 5:15)

And though He allowed His wayward people to be conquered, He did not allow them to be destroyed:

“If his sons forsake My law And do not walk in My judgments, If they break My statutes And do not keep My commandments, Then I will punish their transgression with the rod, And their

iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him, Nor allow My faithfulness to fail. My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David: His seed shall endure forever, And his throne as the sun before Me; It shall be established forever like the moon, Even like the faithful witness in the sky.” (Psalm 89:30-37)

Forever. That’s how long God promised to be on Israel’s side. And when you call to mind all those empires that God allowed Israel to be ruled or persecuted by? (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persian, Greece, Rome, Byzantium, the Crusader’s Kingdom, the Spanish Empire, and the Third Reich?). They’re all gone.

But Israel? A nation who enjoyed dominion over their small strip of land for only the blink of an eye? A nation exiled for nearly two thousand years, driven from place to place, unwelcome intruders in every corner of the world? Against all odds, in 1948 reviled Israel again possessed to nation they thought lost. Hebrew is again the native tongue of millions. (The only ancient language in history to revived as a common language) In fulfilment of ancient prophecies, the towns have been rebuilt, the barren fields again bear fruit, and the people prosper.

What could explain the anomaly of Israel, a country just sixty years old, in the thick of global headlines? What made this country, barely fifty miles wide and a hundred and fifty miles long, the focus of world events today?

Mark Twain once pondered, “The Greeks and Romans …are gone; other people have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out… the Jews saw them all, survived them all…all other forces passed, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?”

What could explain the fact that Israel alone has regained its ancestral land after 2000 years of displacement, that its people, despite being scattered throughout the world and a target of ethnic cleansing in almost every place they lived, can still be demonstrated (in stark contrast to other conquered peoples) to be genetically identifiable as a people group?

Fortunately, the Bible tells us, “Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you…” (Deut 14:2)

And as we have seen, He chose them forever. Only one thing explains the singularity that is Israel: A God who keeps His promises. And He has promised this:

“For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns….You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called Hephzibah “my delight is in her” and your land (wed) For the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married. (Isaiah 62:1-2, 4)

Someday soon there will be His remnant, declaring together that, “He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations.” (I Chronicles 16:14- 15)

Jesus warned that in that day, after events on earth have run their course and He finally takes the throne, that the Gentiles will be judged on their treatment of the Jews. Matthew 25:31-40

You’d think it would be clear which horse to put money on. And there’s no safer bet.
